Wednesday 3rd January 

Welcome to 2018!

Come and join us for our annual quiz with our very own Quiz Master, Paul Norfolk. A great way to start the year, meet new and existing members and see what we're all about.


Wednesday 7th February

Dr. Steve Jones M.R.I

On the night of the Manchester Arena Bomb, Dr. Jones was on duty as the senior medic. A specialist consultant in emergency and intensive care medicine, he was responsible for coordinating a major incident plan for the chaos that followed, ensuring all patients were treated in the best way possible.

Dr. Jones will share his experience with us and show what an immense example of just how incredible our N.H.S is in the face of extreme adversity.


Wednesday 7th March

Tim Platt

Tim is a BBC journalist and will be giving us an insight as to how news bulletins are put together.

Sharing stories from around the world including Tiananmen Square Massacre, Fall of the Berlin Wall and meeting Nelson Mandela.


Wednesday 4th April

Rebecca Ragg

An introduction to Forever Living, an Aloe Vera company, established in 1978, Arizona.

Rebecca will talk us through a brief history and explain the whole process from plant to product.

There will also be an opportunity to sample some of these lovely products.


Wednesday 9th May

Garry Holt

A story of a young man diagnosed with a degenerative illness. Dealing with this, along with depression, whilst in a Neuro Rehab Unit, Garry found his love and skill for art and will share with us his journey and battle and how he came onto become the best selling artist across the North West.

Some pieces of Garry's work have recently been on exhibition at Reclamation Rooms, Uppermill.


Wednesday 6th June

The Saggy Bottom Girls

If you loved the lyric genius of Victoria Wood, you will love this.....

The Saggy Bottom Girls, an all lady group, are appearing for one night only to help us celebrate Saddleworth W.I.'s 10th birthday. Come and enjoy a night of fizz and cake and be thoroughly entertained with some fabulous musicians and hilarious songs.


Wednesday 4th July

Professor Isobel Pollock-Hulf OBE

Isobel has been a chartered engineer since 1981 and a member of the Institute of Mechanical

Engineers. After being awarded an OBE, she is now a patron of the Women's Engineering Society, providing a collective voice of women in engineering, whilst encouraging women to take up careers in this field.

Summer Social

An opportunity to enjoy the light nights of summer, whilst relaxing in the beer garden (weather permitting!) Catch up with the latest news from the subgroups, chat with friends and fellow WI members and learn a little bit more about what your WI has to offer you. 


Wednesday 5th September

Saddleworth Butter Company

A brief introduction into how Antony Buckley began, what is now, the most successful butter company this side of the Pennines!

There will be a demonstration of how to make butter, along with recipes and tasters of a wide variety of flavoured butters.


Wednesday 3rd October

Annual General Meeting

Our AGM is an integral and mandatory part of the WI calendar.

After a brief presentation by key committee members, there is an official procedure to vote new and existing members of the committee. This ensures your WI is being fairly and correctly managed.

Members attendance is greatly appreciated.

We regret that guests and visitors who attend this meeting are unable to vote.


Wednesday 7th November

Stephen Shelley

Ever wondered how they create such epic special effects in movies? Stephen, a snow and ice expert, has a wealth of experience in the film industry. His most recent and current project is working on the phenomenally successful series Game of Thrones and will be telling us some inside stories of some of the most well known films he's worked on from 007 to Star Wars to Titanic.


Wednesday 5th December 

All Things Christmassy

Get your Christmas jumpers on and join us for our last meeting of the year, when we open up the doors to neighbouring W.I.'s for a night of festive fun, a sing song, and of course, to get Christmas started, enjoy some mulled wine and mince pies.....feel free to bring a guest or two!
