Wednesday 4th January
Welcome to 2017!
Come and join us for our annual quiz with our very own Quiz Master, Paul Norfolk. A great way to start the year, meet new and existing members and see what we're all about.
Wednesday 1st February
Kerry Newton an independent consultant with the health, wellness, skincare and beauty company Arbonne, will give us a brief insight into the company, sharing with us the luxurious products. These contain pure botanically based ingredients and are completely free of animal testing. There will also be plenty of time after the talk to sample all the ranges.
Wednesday 1st March
Support group for mental health covering Tameside, Oldham & Glossop.
Their talk will explain about the stigma and issues that are commonly associated with mental health along with what support and services they provide.
Wednesday 5th April
S.A.R.D. Search and Rescue Dogs
Stephen ward from Oldham Mountain Rescue will be bringing along Moss, his newly trained Border collie to explain how they utilise the inherent capabilities of 'the wolf that occupies our hearth'. We will learn how these lovely domesticated dogs are trained to be clever life-saving heroes.
Wednesday 3rd May
Lisa Butterworth is delivering a talk on the benefits of Reiki, an ancient Japanese treatment - meaning Universal Life Force Energy. A holistic, hands-on healing aid that promotes relaxation and can lighten stress and pain. Reiki is used to manage and encourage physical emotional, mental and spiritual well-being.
Wednesday 7th June
Krav Maga Self Defence
Karl McVety has taught Krav Maga originating in Budapest in the 1930's, for over ten years. An extremely effective self- defence system used in the military and also by the Israeli Defence Forces. There will be demonstrations of Krav Maga, with Karl teaching some basic manoeuvres and techniques. This is an essential tool to keep yourself safe. If possible, please wear something loose and comfortable, as there will be some audience participation (optional) .
Wednesday 5th July
Steve and Michelle Asquith, a dynamic dancing duo, have been teaching Salsa for many years, to all levels of dancers at their weekly class in Uppermill. Come along to their demonstration and insight into what Salsa is all about. Audience participation (optional).
Wednesday 2nd August
An opportunity to enjoy the light nights of summer, whilst relaxing with a glass of wine sat on the terrace (weather permitting!)
Catch up with the latest news from the subgroups, chat with friends and other W.I. members, and learn a little bit more about what your W.I. has to offer you.

The Anita Roddick Story
Sue Burnett will tell us how The Body Shop came to be 40 years ago and explain the ethics and beliefs that Anita Roddick campaigned for and the
difference that they make to our planet. She will also give us an insight into the continual charity work that carries on the legacy she left behind.
Wednesday 4th October
Our Annual General Meeting
Our A.G.M. is an opportunity for new and existing members to get up to date on local and Federation activities. After a brief presentation from the key committee members, there will be an official procedure to vote on new and existing members of the committee. This ensures that your W.I. is being correctly and fairly managed. We will also vote on our charity for 2018. This is a mandatory part of the W.I. calendar and your attendance is greatly appreciated. We regret that guests or visitors who attend this meeting will be unable to vote.
Wednesday 1st November
Jacinta is a knitwear fashion and designer whose career spans 30 years. It has taken her from the craft industry in the 80's and 90's to working in fashion travelling throughout Asia and Europe. From a junior designer to a senior designer and brand manager, going full circle to the craft sector and its new resurgence in the last 10 years. She will take us through her journey in the clothing industry and the unexpected turns that changing fashions have created in her life.

Christmas get together!
Join us in our last meeting of the year when we open up our doors to neighbouring W.I.'s for a night of festive fun, a sing song and of course to get Christmas started, mince pies and mulled wine. Feel free to bring a guest or two!
